Tete won a PeerLink Award this year for his contribution to resolving conflict in the community.
Tete did the Quarrel Shop conflict resolution trianing run by Leap in Bristol in 2008 and used the skills he learned to teach other young people in the community the best way to deal with conflict. By sharing his experiences he has shown that although conflict is a part of everyday life it’s how you deal with it that makes the difference.
Tete won this year’s PeerLink Award for resolving conflict in the community for all his hard work. When we asked he enjoyed most about being a conflict resolver he said: “engaging and building a relationship with young people and realising the positive impact you have on their lives. Now, some of the people I’ve worked with see me as someone to look up to, which is something that inspires and motivates me even more”.
Tete is currently involved in teaching conflict resolution skills to pupils in local primary schools in Bristol and he’s really keen to volunteer and deliver more workshops to young people in future.
“Winning a PeerLink Award was brilliant! It was really good to see that there are others out there doing the same work as I do, well done everyone!”
